I've got Commander Pros, Lighting Node Pros and Fan Hubs that are around 4 years old or so still going. I use iCUE for all RGB with Commander pro, lighting node core, lighting node pro. I know you have a drain (actually the same height as GPU on the pump/res combo not ideal but at least the same level) you should have added before you put coolant in or maybe its hidden? Removing the fan doesn't help - there just isn't enough space. Front 3 sp140 rgb elite will blow air in. Also absolutely 0 airflow issue with the pump/res combo mounted on the front rad, but I have the airflow version, and side fans as well, so YMMV with the 7000x. Having said all that the Corsair iCUE 7000X RGB does indeed work in its own terms so if you happen to be shopping for a large case that will show off loads of RGB while providing adequate cooling then yes, you might indeed want to consider the Corsair iCUE 7000X RGB. 7.
